Only two boats finished the first Jester Challenge from Plymouth to Newport, Rhode Island in the summer of 2006. Pete Hill was one of these in his 30-year old Kingfisher 20 Plus JR Shanti which was almost certainly the oldest and second smallest boat in the fleet.
For single-handed boats between 20-30 feet, starting on 31 May 2008 destined for Praia da Vitoria, Terceira in The Azores. Amongst the fleet of 40 odd yachts two Kingfishers participated and completed the challenge Congratulations to Graham Jewitt in K20 Plus JR Golden Dragon and to Nigel Stillman in K30 Gretta L.
The third Jester Challenge for single-handed yachts, under 30 feet, leaves Plymouth at 13:00 on Sunday 27rd May 2010 with this one bound, for the second time, for Newport RI. Nigel Stillman in K30 Gretta L has entered the challenge. We look forward to following his progress. Nigel elected to turn back due to time constraints as progress was slow. He did however get a good 1/3 of the way across the Atlantic. We look forward to following him in the 2012 JAC.
The fourth Jester Challenge for single-handed yachts, under 30 feet, leaves Plymouth on Sunday 23rd May 2012 with this one bound, for the second time, for the Azores. Nigel Stillman in K30 Gretta L has entered the challenge.
This Jester Challenge for single-handed yachts, under 30 feet, leaves Plymouth on Sunday 15th May 2016 with this one bound, for the third time, for the Azores. Glen Maxwell in K26JR Tao Zou and Peter Orban in K20 Tisza have entered the challenge. We look forward to following their progress.
